Every year, the exam is held around December and January. It is a central government exam that allows candidates to work as primary and upper-primary teachers at government schools. It is an online exam and is available in twenty languages.

Eligibility criteria for the exam – Paper 1 and Paper 2

You need to check the eligibility criteria for both papers. Below are the details –

• Eligibility criteria for paper 1

You have to secure at least 50% marks in your senior secondary examination or its equivalent or a final year student of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years)

OR

You have to secure at least 50% marks in your senior secondary examination or be a final year student of Bachelor in Elementary Education. (4 years).

OR

You have got secure at least 50% marks in your senior secondary examination or be a final year student of Diploma in Education (2 years)

OR

A bachelor’s degree in Bed

• Eligibility for secondary classes

You should have a graduation degree or a final year student of a Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years)

OR

You should have a graduation degree with 50 per cent marks and have appeared for the final year exam of BEd.

OR

You should have a graduation degree with 40 per cent marks and have appeared for the final exam for a BEd degree as per the NCTE regulations.

OR

You should have 50 per cent marks in the Senior Secondary exam and have taken the final year exam of 4 years of Bachelor in Elementary Education.

OR

You should have 50 per cent marks in Senior Secondary Exam and have or appear in the final exam for a bachelor’s degree.

OR

You should have 50 per cent marks in graduation and have a 1 year BEd degree.
